Participating Mentors:

We need mentors who have professional and/or personal interests in career planning and finance. Also willing to share personal experiences and advice with high school students of diverse backgrounds and varying knowledge of financial literacy.

Description:

This project will have students research about careers in order to complete their Family & Consumer Science portfolio related to Budget & Finance. Using the income information about their chosen career, students will learn about taxes, budgets, and spending. They will be required to purchase a a car and work clothes after figuring out their taxes and spendable income.

Teacher Role:

The teacher is the facillitator of the project. The teacher will communicate with mentors on a weekly basis regarding the project. The teacher is the final project evaluator input will be provided by mentor and student). The teacher will complete all other duties as required by the ITP.

Mentor Role:

To provide information to the student as requested by the teacher or student. To help students understand personal finance and apply essential budgeting skills. To keep teacher informed when there is a problem or concern.
