2 | Letter of Introduction 1. Student and mentor exchange letters in which student discuss their subjects under investigation for their case study, Serial Killer. Mentor's Role will research material in order to help assist in the case study. |

3 | Student will research background information on their subject. Incuding the following: *Childhood and adolescents (ages birth to 18)experiences(positive and negative) For example: relatives or family members they responded to in a positive or negative fashion *If student completes this section in full before April 1st, they may proceed to Step 4. Mentor's Role: Assist the student in answering questions they have about the subject. Both mentor and student will exchange ideas and analysis over the subjects growth mentally during these years. |
Student will begin creating Power Point presentation based on heir research. |
4 | Student will research the subject's life from age 18 to the present including the following: *Life on their own *Crimes committed as a continuation of their youth *Reasons (if possible) for committing the crimes *Their methods of commiting the crime in hopes to avoid the law/or making the law solve the problem. *Psychological analysis of possible mental conditions that contributed to their thinking. *Capture and imprisonment ( a record of their incarseration) Mentor's Role: Helping student understand the mind of a serial killer through analysis cognitive dissonance. (Mentor's view in contrast to student's views) and creating the dialogue between the two. |

5 | Student will complete the research project by writing a paper by illustrating the following views: *What effects in their youth contributed to the thinking behind the crime.(The explanation should be well founded in fact and your opinion) *Express a view on why the subject continued to target certain people. *In conclusion, tell how you think the subject could have avoided this behavior and mindset. Mentor's Role:Assist student through cognitive dissonance. |
Turn in research project by May 13 which will be graded as their final. |
