2 | *SPRING BREAK: MARCH 15 to MARCH 21* STUDENT: 1. Modify PowerPoint presentation as per Mentor's suggestions, keeping in mind audience, purpose (inform, persuade, entertain, motivate, etc.), How do I know if I was successful?, What will my audience be looking for when they critique the presentation at each stage? 2. Go to KS Career Pipeline and do the interest & skills surveys, etc. provided. 3. Share with the mentor the results of the KS Career Pipeline Survey to determine general Career Interest fields. 4. Research about the top 3 general Career Interest fields with the information presented in a Word Document, include websites names and addresses. MENTOR: Please assist student in finding credible internet-based research tools and resources related to student's general career interest areas, not specific jobs. Also help student make the connection between primary interests and broad career fields. Review student's Word Document on Career Interests. |

3 | STUDENT: 1. Student will explore post-high school education interests based on his interests and skills. 2. Student learn and discuss with mentor the different types of post-secondary education and present the research in a Word Document. 3. Student should also determine which type of post-secondary education that they are wanting to attend. 4 | STUDENT: From the previous activities, student will present, in a Word Document, his current education and career plan. Also further research to include possible education and career contacts, also include volunteer and intern-based contacts. 5 | Student will research and prepare a Resume & Cover letter. MENTOR: Assist student in finding samples and templates of a resume and cover letter that best reflect the student's work-related skills and previous activities.
