Step Description Expected Student Results
1 Student: send an introductory message to the mentor. In this message the student will share previous experience and knowledge about personal finance. Also share results on their personal consumer behavior survey to understand the need for budgeting.

Mentor: Send an introductory message to the student which includes personal and professional experience related to finance and money. Also please review the "Personal Consumer Behavior Survey" to discuss the importance of having a budget.

2 Student: Understand important points of paychecks in terms net monthly income budget after taxes and deductions.

Mentors: Review website and "Per Cent Budget" document that is on the website. Share with student other voluntary deductions are on a paycheck and which are the important ones to consider. Also review with student if their Per Cent Budget Plan realistically reflects where net monthly income is spent and advise where students could improve their budget spending or net income.

3 Students: Finalize and upload their final Per Cent budget document for their Consumer Skills portfolio and send final message to mentor.


Mentors: Recieve final copy of student's Per Cent Budget document and send final message, also complete survey.
