The project exposed students to diverse opinions and points of view and, because of this, made them more empathetic and understanding of other students' and adults' views.

By far the most influential aspect of the project was completing the CEP and realizing that they now have a realistic and reliable road map to lead them to college and career success.

I will have a larger than usual freshman class next year (22) and expect about 16 of them to participate in the Mentored Pathways project.

The program currently bases matches on students' desires and that is as it should be.
Describe a few things you and your students and mentors were able to accomplish through this program that would have been difficult or impossible any other way.
Far and away the most valuable aspect of the entire project is the encouragement and sage advice provided to students by the mentors. That is simply not available through any other program and is of unimaginable worth.

Including the CEP in the program is of immense value. My students get more adept at completing it with the passing of each term and realize that the CEP is a living document that can really help them live their dreams.
How has this program assisted you to use technology more effectively?
My students and I are pretty tech savvy already, but the Mentored Pathways program is quite user-friendly.

Critical thinking and taking responsibility for one's own actions is central to achieving college and career success; Mentored Pathways places major emphasis on both of those.

When you applied to be a teacher contact you were asked to meet the following requirements.
- All student/mentor commmunication is project based
- Participating students receive a subject grade and turn in work at least biweekly
- Teachers should communicate at least biweekly with the mentors
- Students should be self-selected for participation.
- Teachers should expect a high degree of accountability from their students.
- Teachers should respond to specific program problems within 48 hours

Please describe which requirements, if any, helped you be successful in the program?
I've raised the accountability bar each successive term, and my students continually answer the bell. I'll continue to do so and know that my students will be up to the challenge as well.

Mentored Pathways presents students with an amazing opportunity that cannot be found anywhere else. If teachers want to dramatically improve their students' chances of achieving college and career success, Mentored Pathways is a must!

What additional training would you recommend for teachers next year?
My class had one video conference with David this term and it definitely helped my students better understand the program and boosted their buy-in.
Having a couple of video conferences during each term would be beneficial to all.
