The ability to take constructive criticism and incorporate it into a project was greatly enhanced. Also, the awareness of the importance of a mentor was raised.

I have a better understanding of the importance of doing well in math.
There was a requirement placed on each student to complete a number of
interactions with their mentor over time. Each interaction resulted in a
connection with the mentors which in turn fostered self-directed learning in
pursuit of the goals of the project.

Reinforcement that feedback needs to be honest and critical no matter

More emphasis by the teacher to the importance of regular communication
and a policy which insures said contact.

It forces me to make sure I am organized and the students are taking
advantage of the online system.

These are echoed by the mentors to the students resulting in better

When you applied to be a teacher contact you were asked to meet the following requirements.
- All student/mentor commmunication is project based
- Participating students receive a subject grade and turn in work at least biweekly
- Teachers should communicate at least biweekly with the mentors
- Students should be self-selected for participation.
- Teachers should expect a high degree of accountability from their students.
- Teachers should respond to specific program problems within 48 hours
