I have a better understanding of the importance of doing well in math.
Students are given guidance regarding their college and career choices, but they are also told that they are ultimately responsible for their choices and the success they will achieve. Many people will be their to help them succeed, but the students have to go all in to make their dreams come true.

How many students would you prefer to directly supervise in the program next year?
6

Please provide some tips on how we can partner with you to expand the program in your area.
Contact the other AIM teachers at the respective BPSB schools. These teachers are always on the look out for worthwhile projects for their students.

How would you rate the quality of the matches between your students and mentors overall on a scale of 1 - 5?
5

Please describe any changes you'd like to see that might further improve the quality of the matches.
Maria was a perfect match for Steven during the fall term. Definitely one of the most enthusiastic, supportive, and proactive mentors that I have had the pleasure of working with. I'd love to work with her again whenever she is available.

Describe a few things you and your students and mentors were able to accomplish through this program that would have been difficult or impossible any other way.
Connecting with physicians and other professionals is always difficult for a variety of reasons. Maria was able to help Steven bridge that gap and connect him with physicians who provided him with invaluable guidance and encouragement.

Please describe which requirements, if any, helped you be successful in the program?
Teacher and mentor collaboration is the key to any successful project. I've been fortunate to have always enjoyed open communication with my mentors, and such was the case this past fall, as well.

Please describe which requirements, if any, were difficult to meet. Please note why these requirements were difficult to meet.

If you were helping a new teacher start in this program, what advice would you offer that would aid this new teacher and his or her students to be successful participants?
The students will feed off the teacher's enthusiasm for the program. Fall and spring terms are long and during the course of them student enthusiasm will wane. It is up to the teacher to keep things moving. Not always easy, but critical if the project is to be successful.

Do you plan to participate in the program next year?
Yes

Please estimate how many students in your school district or city could take advantage of this program next year?
30

What additional training would you recommend for teachers next year?
Teachers who have never worked with the program before should have a conference call with David in order to learn the ins and outs of the program. Likewise, Zac and I can provide help and encouragement at the local level. I'm a believer in the program and happy to be a part of it!
