I have a better understanding of the importance of doing well in math.
Students worked on a series of "real world" problems that helped them
develop organization, time management and exposure to wide range of
topics within healthcare. This is turned help them to solidify some of their
career interests. Most of these students are already proactive learners in
terms of engagement however they probably have not thought about how
to proceed beyond into the post secondary.

Please describe any changes you'd like to see that might further improve the quality of the matches.
Biggest improvement would be to have mentors that are within the field of
interest. Students who had mentors not working in the health care arena did
not feel they received the same assistance as those with professionals that
had deeper understanding of topics.
Describe a few things you and your students and mentors were able to accomplish through this program that would have been difficult or impossible any other way.
For this project mentors were so valuable at helping students stretch to go
deeper and providing feedback for improvement.

Describe significant changes that you would like to see in the program or school environment that would improve the effectiveness of the program for you and your students. Please note who would be responsible for making those changes.
Biggest change is providing more time for student/mentor feedback on final
product which is more on me. Time frame gets very tight so I need to build in
more time for revision and reflection.

We are already using technology on a regular basis.

Most impact would be on written and oral communication standards along
with math.

When you applied to be a teacher contact you were asked to meet the following requirements.
- All student/mentor commmunication is project based
- Participating students receive a subject grade and turn in work at least biweekly
- Teachers should communicate at least biweekly with the mentors
- Students should be self-selected for participation.
- Teachers should expect a high degree of accountability from their students.
- Teachers should respond to specific program problems within 48 hours

Students were not "self-selected" everyone in class participated regardless
of their interest in a mentor.
If you were helping a new teacher start in this program, what advice would you offer that would aid this new teacher and his or her students to be successful participants?
Allow more time than planned for mentor contact emails.

What additional training would you recommend for teachers next year?
Training not sure about but improvements to the platform or training on the
platform as there may be features that I'm not aware of that would have
helped organize when working three projects and over 100 students.
