Please describe the best part of working on this project with your mentor.
Through my mentor I was able to learn how much engineering applies to the real world.
The best parts of this was the informal way that mentors might communicate with students.
The best part of working on this project was when I researched my field of interest and he explained that I can become rich.
The best part of working with my mentor is that, he gave me valuable information. He was a really cool guy and gave me tips about my writing and I am thankful for It I really am so thank you
The best part about working on this project, in my opinion, was how much insight I was able to get from my mentor about the industry, as well as the helpful advice about college choices and correcting writing mistakes.
The best part of working on Mentored Pathways is the fact that you are able to share the ideas you get and gather and can share with a professional and get the feedback from them that is required.
When he taught me about medical engineering and told me stuff about it.
The best part of working on this project with my mentor is getting more connections with people in different fields and being able to learn a ton more about my career interest.
That I got to talk with a professional of the workforce in a subject similar to engineering.
I think the best part of this project with my mentor, was being able to have someone to get advice from that wasn't the teacher.
The best part of working with my mentor was being able to talk to her like a human and talking in a less sophisticated way. We were able to understand each other easily and relate on a lot of topics.
We talked a lot and he helped me gather tons of information on Mechanical Engineering.
Working with my mentor gave me the first-hand look of an engineering pathway. Since my mentor was an engineer it made it easier for me to learn more about this career path. The best part of it would be getting to know my mentor as we type back and forth with each other.
I found that the bast part of working on this project with my mentor was the responses she would give me. They would always give me something more to think about and her responses always had that hint of kindness that not all mentors probably had.
The best part about being able to have a mentor to work with was, all the expert advice he was able to give. It was really good to have a second opinion and more input from someone older who has done what I want to do before.
The best part of working on the project i mentored pathways was communicating wit someone through the work and information we had found.
The best part about working with my mentor is that they helped me with what I needed to do and gave me websites to help me with projects.
The best part about working with my mentor was being able to get critical advice about everything that I was working on in school and that I have a better idea now of what the real world will look like.
The best part of working on this project is when I was researching on my field of interest and researching the best colleges for me.
You get to learn.
The best part was learning about different careers and learn which career I would like to pursue.

Please share any other academic areas where you'd like to receive help from a mentor.
I would like to receive more help on the math portion of engineering.
I'm fine, i really don't want to do this again.
Id like to receive help in my algebra class its my worst class.
I had some interview questions that I gave to him and he send me the answers from 3 different teachers/workers. He did solid work on sending me good information
I would also like to receive some advice on how to manage money upon moving into the college level in two years, and how to deal with science and math studies, so as to not forget equations and concepts.
Another area I would like to receive help from a mentor is math. I say math because I for one am Not the best in math and help would definitely be a plus.
Math would be one academic are for me.
I don't think there is any other academic area where I would like to receive help from a mentor for. Maybe later in my high school career, when I start taking harder classes like physics, then I would like a mentor.
I'm fairly sure engineering is really the only subject I need help with and that my mentor can provide.
I think I would only like to receive help from a mentor in my engineering class. I say this because engineering is the hardest class I have and is really the only one I need help with.
I think my mentor was awesome and helped me the best she could and that's all I can ask for.
Nowhere honestly, engineering is the only place
I'm a good student, so I feel like I don't need a mentor because I know what I'm doing most of the time. However, a mentor in anything would help.
Personally, I'd like an academic mentor in story writing if possible. My mentor in this project gave me a lot of steam towards engineering so I would love having the same for writing.
I think that I am pretty set in general academics, but any career specific or field specific course, would do great to have a mentor. such as this one (Intro to Engineering design), or bio-med.
Other academic areas where I'd like to receive help from a mentor would be geography and science.
I would like to get some help on any kind of math work or something to get a little more help.
I am doing rather good in all my academic areas I do not believe that I need any further help seeing as though it is the end of the school year.
I'd like to receive help from a mentor in Literature and Composition.
Probably in math.
None

What advice would you give your mentor as he or she works with a new student?
I think that the communication between student and mentor needs work because some days I didn't know if I still had a mentor.
Even if the student sucks and doesn't email you first, then you try to do something, don't ignore them.
I wouldn't give my mentor any advice because he did a good job talking to me and I think other kids will like him to.
Be your self keep up on what your doing, that's all I can say
Some advice I would give is to get just a tad bit more involved in your new student and to respond often even if they do not. It will definitely show them that you care and want to actively help the student succeed.
The advice i would give to my mentor is to just keep doing what your doing and always help
Just keep doing what your doing. You're a great mentor.
I would advise my mentor to respond much more frequently.
Keep it up. He's really good at giving people very well thought out answers and suggestions. Maybe ask more questions I suppose?
The advice I would give my mentor is replying back faster would really help to understand what needed help or how to do the next thing.
Keep doing what you're doing Emily!
Keep doing what your doing
I don't necessarily have advice. Rick, to me, did an amazing job. He would respond to me within the next 24 hours and whatever he said was helpful.
I honestly have no advice that I can think other than, treat your next student like you treated me. You did a wonderful job as it is.
I really don't have much, just more communication would be great for new students I feel.
The advice I'd give my mentor as he works with a new student would be to talk more to the student and have longer more descriptive details about what we give/ share with them inside of just a one-sided chat with our mentors.
That they should be more interactive with messaging them.
I would say to keep on understanding that we are still in high school and that we are still getting used to communicating so often to someone outside of school.
Make sure to send enough research and ideas for your student.
Just keep doing what you are doing.
Always respond as soon as possible.

Would you be interested in receiving mentoring support from professionals in the future?
6 - No
15 - Yes

Please describe why or why not.
I felt that this pulled me away from my class of engineering, and gave me more work to do in this class than I could handle. This did not help me with my class of engineering.
The way that "support" was given was just terrible. If a student needs support they will look for it and try to get it, it is great to give them the option to have a mentor but just terrible to make it a grade. As soon as you make this a grade it goes from wanting to email your mentor about what you want to email them, to needing to email them about stuff that is completely irrelevant. Also giving the "guide" for the conversation takes out any humanity in conversations and makes the emails strictly based on what we are being graded on. We go from a two way conversation, to a mentor trying to talk, but can't because the student is practically just running a script for a grade.
I would because its helpful and there there if you need them.
The reason why is because I got other stuff to do in my life rather being forced to do something I didn't want to do and it affected my school work.
I would definitely be interested in getting more professional help, as it could eventually lead to some business connections. Also it will give me some insightful knowledge on the behalf of people working in the industry.
Id be instrested in receiving support later on because help is help, you could never not want help.
I still need help on a lot of ares and I need the mentors help to do so.
It is just really cool to hear from a mentor and have a whole new world opened up to you.
Don't really feel like being mentored would really benefit me personally.
I would be interested in receiving mentoring support in the future because it doesn't hurt to have that extra person to help you.
I enjoy being able to talk to someone who has firsthand experience of things I enjoy doing or am planning on doing in the future.
It really helped me throughout this class
It is a good thing to get help from professionals. They know what they're doing and it allows me to meet new different types of people.
I am not against having future mentors as throughout my whole life, I've had many. They've all been family known friends but having a true professional as a mentor is something you don't get to have often.
I think this was a great experience, that allowed us to gain valuable insight into our careers and help give us a sense of what to do to achieve our goals. I think that continuing this for kids in high school and even lower would be a great thing.
This project with mentored pathways was just to time consuming and held me back from getting some of my other engineering projects done. It was helpful to give information about what we were learning to another person, but other than that it was in the way and didn't help me be as successful as I wanted.
Yes because I want to learn new things and get help from someone as I am doing those type of new things.
because it allocated for another input that was not my own. +
Having a mentor to help me is very useful and I feel like I can achieve goals with a mentor.
No because it gets really boring because you have to be on the computer so much and personally it gets boring.
Yes because it was really fun.

Was this the first time you've been part of a formal mentoring program?

Please describe the most difficult parts of working on this project with your mentor.
Trying to juggle more that assignment that were not alike were one affected the quality of the other.
The worst part of this was the constant stress that came with the engineering teacher trying to "guide" our conversations and at the same time getting mad at us for doing what she tells us to do.
The response time was most difficult because we had to email then start a project and if they didn't get back to you in enough time you had to figure it out on your own.
The most difficult was trying to contact my mentor and work on my school work it wasn't easy at all and this affected my grades.
The most difficult part for me was the project itself, as it required lots of back and forth communication that was very problematic. Also the project descriptions were slightly cryptic as to what to do.
The most difficult part for me was the fact of just being able to get comfortable with my mentor because I am a very shy and socially awkward person who doesn't like to talk to new people.
Communicating in a timely manner.
The most difficult part of working on this project with my mentor is the 3(+) month hiatus of my mentor communicating with me.
Kind of lost contact at the end of the year and keeping up with communication was difficult on my side.
I think the most difficult times would be waiting for responses.
The most difficult part was the questions for Dr. Sture. Trying to come up with the questions was super difficult/.
Trying to communicate while we were doing a big project in class
I feel like typing to each other was hard, not necessarily the typing, but I would have preferred someone to vocally talk to me, but everything else was pretty simple.
The only major difficulty I found in working on this project was self motivation as I had a few moments throughout the year which had me stressed and unable to focus, much less get motivated.
The most difficult and frustrating part was communication. By making this a part of our actual class, sometimes it got hard to keep up if your mentor doesn't have time to respond or read your message. Their agendas change, and I had this happen to me during the project, and my mentor had very little time to communicate with me.
The most difficult part of working with a mentor was being able to deliver good work, and evaluations and especially on time. This is because there wasn't much time to be able to delver the work, when there was a ton we had to give.
The most difficult was trying to stay active with them and messaging them when i can.
The hardest part was remembering to communicate every week twice a week.
Trying to log in with different devices because I am able to send my mentor the stuff I have researched only on this computer.
Asking quesitons
The hardest part was when the mentors did not answer.

Did we miss something? If so, please share any additional comments you might have about your experience in the program.
I did not see how this would help me more than it hurt me.
If this is just for comments, then I just want to make the comment that this was just a terrible experience and I wish I never need to do this or anything like it again.
no
Nope you guys do great thank you!
One thing to look at would be how the messages are tracked, as some times messages would appear in the spam folder of my email and be neglected.
Keep doing the great work your doing
No, you're good.
Dab on em' boi
No.
Nothing.
Overall my understanding has gone up from this, and seeing the expectations the cite offered did make a difference that was good, but it was also really hard and challenging. Usually I wouldn't say no to something like this, but it just wasn't the right program or evaluation I was looking to come into.
I would make sure to do an introductory lesson on how to navigate mentored pathways.
You did not miss anything.
