Please describe the best part of working on this project with your mentor.
The best part was learning more about how her company increases employee engagement. It was also really interesting to hear her opinions.
The best part of working on this project with my mentor was getting outside input from a professional. I liked how she was just focused on my project.
He replied in a timely fashion. He gave great honest feedback that helped a lot because if something didn't look right, he didn't try to sugar coat it. He simply asked why it was the way it was and gave a suggestion.
The very beginning because my mentor responded a lot more at the start, and she provided great feedback.
Melissa was very easy to get along with. We shared many events that occurred during the time that we worked together.
I was able to get suggestions from another individual who was not working on the project, and determine how the paper sounded to them
I thought my mentor was extremely helpful. They responded quickly and were always helpful with the information provided.
getting a third opinion
I received feedback from someone that had no idea about the business. The mentor was an outside source.
He was very helpful in the beginning with reading the sections that i sent him and giving me advice on them.
My mentor, Issac was very helpful. He sent me links that would explain things to me and gave me good feedback on all of my sections that I showed him. Issac replied within a few days which was nice.
My mentor was able to give me good information with lots of detail at the beginning to help us start our project and get ideas.
I liked knowing I had someone to look over my writing that did not know me as a person.
The mentor was helpful with ideas and feedback. She was honest and expressed any concerns she had.
The best part about working with my telementor was that she would always provide great feed back no matter what. She always had something positive to say and negative to help us out.
The good advice/suggestions provided, to aid in bettering our project.
It was nice having someone tell their opinion outside of my group!
My mentor was great about motivating me and giving me ideas to help my group complete our paper.
The best part of working on this project with my mentor is having a third opinion to look over our stuff and offer corrections or advice on ways we could improve our paper.
The best part of working on this project with my mentor was receiving her advice, suggestions, and feedback. She was extremely knowledgable on marketing and statistics and really helped my group on our project.
Getting another view of ideas and having good feedback.
The best part of working on this project was having someone to look over my work and tell me where I need to approve.
I was able to get feedback and have questions answered from someone with a lot of experience.
The good advice I got from mine was definitely the best part. I got lots of good information, and I used it to improve my project.
Please share any other academic areas where you'd like to receive help from a mentor.
I thought my mentor did a very good job with helping me. She answered every question I had.
I think the mentorship would be beneficial in English courses.
I would like to receive help from a mentor when working on a bio medical project for a class. I feel that it would be very beneficial to have a mentor that is familiar with that subject.
N/A
I don't have any.
It would be beneficial to receive a mentor who was familiar in the field our project is based upon.
Accounting, finance, etc. although i'm not interested in the medical field, that would be helpful.
English essays
He never responded to my 4B section and he was late getting back to me a lot of the times.
He provided links and good ideas for me. He read my sections and gave me good and bad feedback on it.

Using a mentor would be useful for every paper. They can help you expand on your ideas and make things sound better, especially if they are qualified in the subject.
A academic area I would like to receive help in if I had a choice would have to be math. I struggle in math and I think having a mentor to communicate with would be great
It would be cool to have help in English class! English teachers would love doing this.
Another academic are I would like to receive help from a mentor would be on English essays or papers.
I think it depends on the focus of the project. If one project is more math/finance focused, having someone in the finance field wouldn't hurt. My mentor majored in business and some sort of engineering, and minored in math. Her math minor definitely helped with suggesting how to compound our data and represent it equally. Also having someone skilled in advertising and promotions would potentially be helpful as well.
Math
I wouldn't pick any other area but I would like more help with marketing.

What advice would you give your mentor as he or she works with a new student?
I would say to not just say everything looks good. I would give some harsh feedback sometimes because in the end it will make their paper better and that's what they want.
I would suggest more criticism and maybe some experience in DECA. That might help them know what the judges like to see.
It really does help and make people feel good when you compliment the work that i am doing. I would suggested that he keeps complimenting the students.
I feel like my mentor should have been more involved near the middle, and end parts of our project since we needed revisions and feedback from a professional. Sadly we didn't get much of that.
Keep getting to know the students on a personal level. It helped make me feel like I wasn't just talking to a computer and receiving assistance.
I would advice that they check their messages more often, it would sometimes take longer to receive feedback on sections then I had hoped for.
Make the student feel as if they aren't talking via messages. It is hard to try and connect and engage with students, but anything along those lines would be helpful.
Continue helping other's the way you helped me because it benefited our project in a positive way
I would advice that the mentor contact the student twice a week as well. Communication is key through this project.
even though he was doing work in a different country i would recommend that he respond at least once a week if he can
Keep up the good work! Issac was a great mentor and I am glad I got him to help me!
I would advice my mentor to help the student more throughout the project and actually review the work they are doing. He didn't ever give feedback or help for the last month and a half.
Please get back to your student on a regular basis. I did not bombarding you with messages when you had not responded in a month.
I'd tell my mentor to be as honest as possible, even though she was and was helpful.
I know my mentor were starting to have some family emergency's but I would probably just say to keep students updated more frequently
The content provided was great, the timeliness in which he responded was poor at times. I feel that the experience would have been more helpful, if I heard from him mire often.
They should get know who the students are so they know how he/she thinks.
I would tell my mentor to keep motivating the student but to give some more criticism.
The advice I would give my mentor would be to give more ways the student could improve their project. Maybe even add links that could help.
The advice I would give my mentor specifically is that she had so many ideas and suggestions which did really help but sometimes it was overwhelming because she seemed so advanced. Some of the things she wanted me to add or change were so advanced or didn't relate to what we were trying to accomplish in our project.
I don't think I have any advice. Nirah was great and a ton of help.
I would advise that he responds more.
I would advise my mentor to respond more than just once every 10 days.
Ask lots of questions, and find common ground with your students, which is something my mentor did very well

Would you be interested in receiving mentoring support from professionals in the future?
6 - No
18 - Yes
Please describe why or why not.
If their was a time I could use one in college I would.
If I was doing another DECA project, I might be in interested because I like the outside, focused, professional input. I would have liked more suggestions/criticism.
I think It would help because they can give you advice on what they did or didn't do. This will help you so you can do the right things and avoid the bad things.
I would only use the help if I really need it, which I rarely do.
It was nice to get the opinion of a professional in their field.
I would be interested in receiving mentoring support from professionals in the future because it would allow me to get more suggestions on my work from other professionals.
I thought the mentors were extremely helpful in their jobs. they provided tons of information and helped us improve our projects a ton.
because my mentor was great at giving us ideas and sending us links to websites that were helpful towards our project
I think it is a great program. The information from mentor to students is very helpful.
because he gave me great advice and told me things that i should get rid or to add.
Issac was a big help to my project.
I would because I believe they could actually help and i have heard good reports about them and I would like to give them a second chance to help me.
I don't know if it was just my mentor, but I felt as if it didn't help me at all. My mentor barely read any of my paper and sort of seemed frustrated when we came to obstacles.
Mentors seem to be very helpful and they can proof read your things and build on your ideas.
Because having someone else to help you or give you another idea would be good
the information that was provided was helpful
I did not enjoy it. I knew what I was doing my telementor just pointed out small things that are helpful but not really that important.
I would be interested in receiving more mentor support from professionals because I think it is a useful tool if done correctly.
Although I enjoyed the program and did see the benefits, I don't think I would need to receive mentoring support from professionals. My mentor was very professional and skilled in her field which was great but I also feel that there is a disconnect between what we as students are doing and the mentors' understanding of our project.
I would like to receive mentoring support in the future because it was very helpful and easy.
I would be interested because my mentor helped contribute valuable data that helped my project.
Yes, because I was able to get feedback from someone who has dealt with the same topics in their job
I think hearing secondary input is good no matter who you talk to, but its better with mentors because they are professionals and have the best input.
Was this the first time you've been part of a formal mentoring program?

Please describe the most difficult parts of working on this project with your mentor.
I feel like the most difficult parts were the emailing. Sometimes it's hard to really communicate just over email.
The most difficult part was the inability to attach files or pictures to our messages because I had to copy-paste everything from my paper.
The fact that you never got to explain things in person. E-mailing makes it hard for you to explain certain things.
The hardest part was getting consistent communication between the two of us.
I had no problems.
The most difficult part of working on this project with my mentor was that they sometimes wouldn't respond for over a week, getting close too two weeks.
one of the most difficult things was trying to format questions so we, as students, can get specifically what we want. Many times i would ask a question and get information about another topic or received information that wasn't all that helpful.
there was not a difficult part because my mentor was very helpful
The communication was hard to keep up with. Sometimes it was hard to explain were as a group we were going with the project.
ALot of times he wouldnt respond for 2 weeks without looking at my sections
Sending things back and forth because my WSD email wouldn't let him view documents.
My mentor would rarely reply and when he did he usually didn't give me advice.
The communication problem was hard. With all the holidays, either I was off of school or he was out of town.
My mentor had some personal issues going on so there was little communication but I understand completely, so it was not a big deal to me at all.
Keeping up with communication
Being able to get a hold of each other and getting back to each other in a timely manor
I could not have a face to face conversation and explain my thinking. Also we didn't talk everyday. It would be week to week.
The most difficult part was trying to get more criticism. My mentor was great about keeping me on track and motivating me but she did not give many suggestions on how to improve my paper.
The most difficult part was my mentor leaving for vacation.
The most difficult part of working on this project with my mentor was the communication. I made sure that I updated her at least twice a week with where our project was. However, I felt like it was choppy because I would send her a section and she wouldn't respond for a few days, and then would respond with an overwhelming amount of changes or suggestions. At the beginning my mentor was really good at responding right away, but as the months went on it took her longer and longer. I don't know if there was anything in her personal life going on so I can't account for her absent time but I also understand that she can't (probably) get on and respond to me everyday.
Having to disagree with their opinions without being disrespectful.
The most difficult part was the amount of times he was able to communicate with me, especially at the very end.
The most difficult parts of working on this project with my mentor was when she did not fully understand what was required in our project.
Sharing files, you should be able to rename files right when you upload instead of giving them a default weird name (full of random characters)
Did we miss something? If so, please share any additional comments you might have about your experience in the program.

No thank you.
My overall experience was good. My mentor supplied my group with a lot of suggestions, however there was sometimes a strain in communication.
nope, great website
