Please describe the best part of working on this project with your mentor.
The best part of working on this project was the support that I received from my mentor. His encouragement gave me the extra push that I needed to continue to work diligently.
Getting help with any questions we had
The best part was receiving outside opinion besides others from my class.
The responses to each other's questions.
The best part of working with my mentor on this project is having someone outside of the classroom give us feedback on our project. Having an opinion other than our teacher's is really helpful.
Getting week to week feed back from real world professionals
The best part would be how the mentors are able to give us help on the type of material we need for our project.
The best part of working with the mentor is the transfer of ideas. My mentor had many great ideas, and he gave me useful input on my project.
The best part of working on this project with my mentor was that I was able to get some feedback from someone outside the classroom.
The mentor put in many bits of valuable insight.
The best part of working on this project with my mentor was the professional advice and inputs that helped us see different ways to solve problems.
They helped out on stuff our teacher couldn't help us with.
Getting to be able get so useful feedback from somebody else.
Having a professional opinion on all of our designs.
Having an expert in his field to offer us advice through his experience was indispensable to our eventual success in creating a product that both functioned as we wanted it to and was made with the right materials.
The mentor provided some insight into creating our prototype. Also some insight into what to think about before creating the actual prototype.
I believe that the best part of working with my mentor was getting his input and having him review our designs.
TH ebest part was working with them and getting tips that generated new ideas
The knowledge that I was able to receive helped us in testing our project.
The best part is having someone with experience and has a different view point than you to give you suggestions and let you think of things to consider while doing the project.
Please share any other academic areas where you'd like to receive help from a mentor.
N/A
Maybe math or science
I'm pretty fine without that.
Math and English.
Other areas where a mentor would be helpful is English. someone to review essays and help with brainstorming ideas.
Finding an Internship
I would have like to receive help if physics because I'm really bad at it.
I'd like to receive help from my mentor on areas such as Computer Science. Our project would really have benefited from this.
A mentor would be of help if they are able to give input on areas of materials we don't know.
I received help in some of the engineering aspects of developing our prototype.
I'd like to receive help in the business aspect from mentors, as well as the science aspects.
Math because I am horrible at it.
I can't think of any other areas where a mentor would help.
None
I would appreciate advice and personal experience in life at the university level, including how to obtain internships and relative jobs.
I'd like to have help in the general engineering processes that we require when building the prototype.
Science, English, and math.
I would have apreaciated help in Ap english, I'm struggleing in that class.
I would most definitely ask for a mentor in my English class and Mesa Class.
For our project, there wasn't a need to find calculations or any information.
What advice would you give your mentor as he or she works with a new student?
My advice would be to encourage the students and continue working with them. The mentor needs to pull through as well. Mentors should CONTACT THE STUDENTS TWICE A WEEK.
Maybe just keep in touch more but that is also on the students end as well
Try to make video conferences a thing.
Nothing, mine was awesome.
Just keep throwing out ideas because any little suggestion of idea helps.
Try to be friendly and give the best advice
I would tell my mentor to do nothing different form what he's already doing.
Trying to understand the student needs is something that should be worked on.
Mentors should reply back to their students as many times as the student has to reply to the mentor as well because if they don't then it's pointless. By the time that a mentor replies if it isn't constant, the student is far from what they have told them and they are on completely different pages. By the time the student has a response the student most likely will have found a solution.
I would only say that daily feedback would be the best possible improvement, if possible.
Make sure that the student always gives information to the mentor as well as pictures.
Be sure to help them out on the stuff they need help with and make sure you pick a student that is related to your job.
To make sure to take the time to do the things that the students ask of.
Past experience in the student's field is recommended
I would ask that my mentor be available more often and push the student to accomplish more in the little time that the year provides.
I would recommend that he or she ask more questions pertaining to the project, like food for thoughts. Also they should provide more help when it comes to the creating process of the prototype.
Just keep doing what you're doing.
Try and communicate with the new student faster.
The mentor should try to get to know their student more. I think that the mentor should ask more questions to understand the student's project since it is rally hard to explain in word.

Please describe why or why not.
Mentors can SOMETIMES add much needed ideas.
It's nice to hear other peoples view point
It's always good to have outside opinions.
I would because he could really help.
I like having a mentor that I can communicate with in person and share ideas with.
yes they provide gateways to the realworld
My mentor helped me a lot in all the problems me and my partner faced.
I'd like to tell them about my obstacles in the future, and I'd like to hear their input.
Yes because I'd have a better idea of what I can do and get help with.
It was an interesting process and gave me the perspective of a more experienced person.
It will be a major help for college projects and will lead to connections.
They help out with things mentors locally can't help with.
Because having feedback from others can be very beneficial
It's always nice to get an other opinion on things
I'd like to have someone to confer with about the opportunities and programs I should participate in during my college experience.
I may be glad in receiving help from mentors in furthering my education in my major. I'd like to have a mentor with the same passions as I do so that we can relate.
Because it is always good to have another person to look over our designs.
The help would be productive
Yes because it would help me learn why my idea may or may not be feasible in the real world and how to go about attempting to solve it.
I think that in future projects it is very helpful having someone for advice and suggestions.

Please describe the most difficult parts of working on this project with your mentor.
The difficult part was explaining our project to the mentors.
It's hard because they cant actually see it in person
The most difficult part was not being bale to meet with the mentor in person.
Nothing.
The most difficult part was trying to get my mentor as involved in our project as possible
Trying to remain in constant communication with your mentor while trying to work on your project
Sometimes you couldn't keep the mentor up to date with what you were doing because you were so busy with your project.
The challenge to remain in communication about twice a week.
The most difficult part of working with the mentor was that there was no personal contact with the mentor. Mentor delayed in his response.
The most difficult parts were deciphering the meaning of the mentor's messages and what they mean.
It was difficult to not be able to actually talk to or see our mentor.
The time management, we didn't always get to contact them because we had other things to do.
trying to show them all the things we've been working on.
We couldn't meet in public and there were some weeks where my mentor never responded to my messages.
The only real difficulty was whenever my mentor was busy in his work and was not able to assist as much as my group may have liked.
The mentor was gone at times and didn't necessarily ask questions or suggest certain building process or how we should go about making the prototype.
Not being to talk to someone face-to-face. That would've improved the experience.
Getting my ideas across to him through the computer
Sometimes my mentor and I would not be able to respond to each others messages for sometime and it was a sort of a hassle for me to do the project and try to communicate at the same time
My mentor and I had somewhat poor communications. She will sometimes not respond for a long time.
