The best part about working on this project with my mentor was the fact that someone other than my teacher was taking the time out to help guide me with my project. It was good receiving feedback from someone I didn't know because then I knew the comments about my project were honest and unbiased.

The best part was being able to communicate with someone half way across the world who has a lot of wisdom when it comes to business, marketing, and market research. It was neat to hear about how different things are where she lives and it actually helped me decide that I want to study abroad at some point in my lifetime. She not only helped with this project, but also with helping me in my life decisions.

I think an academic area where help would be needed is math. For myself personally, I struggle in math and know that if someone was there to help me better understand it, I would really enjoy that.

I am highly interested in having my major at Missouri State college be advertising and marketing based and would love to have a consistent mentor for my current AP Calculus course. This way, I will receive a continuous help with the homework as well as tests and quizzes that are required.

I am not sure of any other areas my mentor could help me with my academics. One idea that could possibly work would be when I progressed to college, research or papers I wrote during this time could improve with my grades.

Just try to keep up with the pace of the students, whether he or she is working slow or fast. Also, if a student is hesitant to tell you what they need help on, ask them. They'll feel more open to telling you. Personally, I didn't have this problem, but many of my classmates did.

I think you have done an excellent job. I really liked the fact that we got to know a little bit about eachother and spoke about things other than just the project. It made me more comfortable talking and asking for advice, plus it made it interesting!

Positive encouragement was extremely helpful. I didn't experience any negativity, which kept me involved and willing to work with my mentor. He seemed genuinely interested in my progress, and I would just suggest showing the same amount of interest to every student.

I honestly have no advice to give Kim! While being professional, she was also very personable and seemed genuinely interested in the market research paper I was writing. Her excessive knowledge in business and also her excellent English skills were something that set her apart from my partners mentors.

A minor portion of advice I would give my mentor is to overall stay in contact and intrigue the student. If the student is calling you their mentor and requires help through a certain project or course, stay in contact with him/her regardless the amount they respond to you.

Be patient and try to gain a strong understand what him/her is trying to achive

To reply to his students or if they dont want to do it anymore assign your student with a new mentor. Or at least let your student know you will no longer be replying.

My mentor was pretty consistent for the first few weeks, then her replies became very spaced out. I think mentors should respond at least twice a week because the students need to respond twice a week.
