Please describe the best part of working on this project with your mentor.
The best part of working on this project with my mentor was that I got the opportunity to collaborate with adults that I wouldn't normally get the privilege to have a digital conversation with. So, I just really enjoyed getting her ideas and incorporating them into my work.
I really liked having someone to help edit the letters that I sent to experts. It made me sound way more professional and has improved my writing skills.
My mentor messaged me advice and information about projects and people that I need to know. I sent my mentor copies of my work and kept him up to date with what we were doing, while asking for any help I needed.
It was nice knowing other people to help you through the project.
My mentor always was there to help me and she gave me advice on what to do. Whenever I wrote a draft of something she would make sure it was high quality and free of mistakes. I've learned the importance of revising your work and asking for help proofreading. Also, I learned how to reach out to experts. Before this program I had no idea that you could get connected to professionals just by sending an email. Working with my mentor really helped me a lot.
My mentor was incredibly helpful. He gave me great advice and also helped keep me on task. The best part was that his suggestions and messages were extremely helpful and very professional
The best part of working with my mentor with my project is how my mentor gives suggestions and concerns about my project that I would have never considered or thought of before based on my experience.
I enjoyed building a relationship with my mentor and having a lot of help with projects that i may not have done with out them.
there were always there when I needed help and always gave me good ideas
I liked having someone to bounce my ideas off of and get answers from someone who may know something about my project.
The best part of working on this project with your mentor was when she helped me write my letters, and Audrey bought the rubber bands for me and we had good cooperation.
Whenever my mentor and I had a breakthrough on the project it was relieving to figure it out.

Please share any other academic areas where you'd like to receive help from a mentor.
Maybe one area of academics where a mentor in person might be helpful is Spanish. If I were to collaborate with a person who spoke Spanish, that would help greatly with my ability to learn the language to the point that I could speak it fluently. If the mentor were only on the internet though, then I would use help from a mentor in any class where I had a big project that would take the entire year to complete.
There weren't really any other academic areas that I needed help with. Although, figuring out a budget was sometimes difficult.
I would appreciate a foreign mentor in history class so I could learn information from someone who actually lives in foreign lands from America.
I would like mentors in every class because they were such a good help.
I would like to have help for any project I worked on. There aren't many projects I do in school, but I would like help outside. For NJHS this year I worked on a project where I made a video to rasise awareness about the humane society. The project could have done better and it ended up falling behind. If I was working with my mentor, I know the project would have turned out better. That is the kind of thing I would like to get help from a mentor.
I have a few issues in writing/Language arts, and I would like help there, my mentor has already helped me with that a lot, but I still have trouble there.
I think other academic areas that would be helpful from a mentor is maybe a little more conversation with the student about how the mentor has conducted a project or presentation based on their own experiences and professionalism.
I would have liked to have a mentor in math so that when i was very confused i could get another adults help other than my teacher.
i would not like mentors in other classes because i dont think i would need them
Science and maybe even in English are the best places for a mentor.
I would like a mentor to help me with my math because I am not so good.
MATH would be a great area to get mentoring in.

What advice would you give your mentor as he or she works with a new student?
The advice that I would give my mentor is that she should keep on doing what she is doing. She did a great job mentoring me and helping me stay on track to complete my project on time.
My mentor was really helpful in all areas, so I don't really have any advice.
I would say "Keep up the great work. Improve some of the grammar in the messages and keep giving helpful information and ideas on projects in the future.
Think more like a student with the work and not long broad things for the student to do.
I would say to continue doing the same thing because it worked well with me. You could try to make sure that the student is always doing something and always ask them what they accomplished. That way their projects might turn out better.
Keep doing what you're doing. There is nothing you should change.
I would suggest that my mentor, when working with a new student, should consider trying to be more directly involved with the student and try to explain to them the importance of science, math, reading, and writing and how it has affected them.
I would ask that they try and write to me more often.
be consistent with messaging
Make sure your student can have a personal connection to you. Then your communications will be stronger and more valuable then a group with no relations.
I would give my mentor no advice. She was a great mentor.
Less errors when sending messages to his student.

Please describe why or why not.
I would like to receive mentor support in the future because it was very helpful throughout the entire project and it is just very enjoyable to have someone to communicate with.
I really enjoy this program. It has improved many of my academic skills, and I am no longer afraid of contacting experts who I may not know. I also understand the importance of contacting professionals. These are all very important skills to have later in life, so I am glad that I have them now.
I would appreciate mentor help in History class in the future because I would like a person who lives somewhere were studying to give a more clear perspective of what everything is like.
They were a great help.
My mentor was a lot of help to me. She always gave me feedback and helped keep the project on track. I would love to have someone like her helping me with every project I worked on.
It is very helpful and my mentor was incredibly nice. I have improved a bunch in writing because of it.
I would be interested in working with a mentor in the future for a project because I found working with a mentor is insightful on how the real professional world works. A mentor can also help me design, organize, and execute a project similar to this experience and could help me do something good to the community.
I would like to receive more mentoring in the future because it seems to help me stay on task and it also helps me to build a new relationship.
yes because they are always helpful
No because I find it difficult to work on a project with someone who can not see what you're working on and all the steps you have added to the project when it happens.
Yes because I think it would be a good idea and I think I would be able to do better and put more effort and I think it would be more fun.
I have received mentoring for two years in a row now and it is time for other people to take this class as well.

Please describe the most difficult parts of working on this project with your mentor.
The most difficult parts of working on this project with my mentor was that she lived internationally. So, this would lead to obvious problems that she had to communicate from a long long ways away, and try to understand what it was like here or up at the ranch. Also, another difficult thing was that sometimes we misunderstood each other, so that would mess things up a little bit.
Sometimes it is difficult when either the mentor or the student has something else going on that prohibits them from sending a message. It is also frustrating when the experts I contacted never responded.
The most difficult part was not having Mr. Lovell to talk to, so my mentor and I had to figure out a backup project because we had no communication with Habitat for Humanity.
Remembering to respond after you were done working that day.
Sometimes, it was hard to fully communicate since we could only write messages. I wouldn't be able to explain things as well as I could. Also, I didn't always have enough time to write everything I wanted in my messages. On the other hand, it was easy to share documents this way.
Keeping in touch. I had a tough time saving and writing messages in one class period and I wasn't communicating well enough
I think the only difficult part of with working with my mentor is sometimes in a situation where communicating fast is important, the time difference between mentor and student proves to be slow.
I think the most difficult part was not getting that many messages from my mentor.
sometimes he didn't message back for a week or so
Since my mentor was never actually in the area, it was difficult to explain every step we had added and our steps we were planning for the future.
There were no difficulties except my lack of effort.
Sometimes one of us wouldn't get to communicate for long periods of time and there was a long break between some communications.

Did we miss something? If so, please share any additional comments you might have about your experience in the program.
I think that the Telementors program is very helpful in developing skills for communicating with professionals and just learning to work with someone via the internet.
It would be really helpful if students could sign up to receive texts whenever their mentor messages them.
I would recommend Christopher to anyone who is a problem solver.
I did not think you missed anything
No.
Please, create an auto save feature like in g-mail, when it asks when you close if you want to save it as a draft. I had lots of problems with the saving of unfinished messages, and I probably lost 6 messages full of writing because of the clumsy saving. Part of it is a me problem, but I would still really like it if you could fix that.
I have found some problems with the telementor website that maybe should be addressed. First off, the login does not save your profile if you switch between tabs that is not part of your profile. I know you can go back to the previous window, but that doesn't work all the time. Second, while you do have this for student, teacher, and mentor messages, I think you should allow us to save this survey if we do not complete it. This is the second time I have filled out this form after the first did not save.

My experience in the program was overall a success.
No.
I think the program should have some more set projects before the year starts.
