Things either the teacher or the Mentored Pathways Staff do to make a similar project more successful.
Continued communications throughout the project
This student was difficult to engage, and responded to most of my questions and suggestions briefly and casually, if at all. This is in marked contrast to my other student, who has been clearly engaged, though obviously busy with other priorities too. I don't know how much the teacher can do to stimulate greater engagement by the student, but in this case it might have been useful.
The student did not communicate/email during this project.
Make sure the student is getting back to the mentor with clear indication of what he/she needs from the mentor at the point in time.
It would be helpful if the teacher could share more details throughout the project about what the students are working on. In addition, it would be helpful if the teacher would monitor the students' messages and ensure they were sharing the information required in the project. I did not receive any of my student's work throughout this project so it was extremely difficult to provide help and feedback.
Could have used more frequent teacher communication to understand what stage of the project the students were at and to clarify weekly expectations.
Teachear should have more implication to encourage mentees to engage with the mentors.
Continue to encourage the students to correspond 1 to 2 times per week. Sometimes, it is hard to keep students sending messages and the momentum is lost.
This teacher was quite uncommunicative.
The teacher needs to communicate with mentors, and to take action when students stop participating.
The student to stop participating in the project as far as I can tail. The teacher did not answer any of my emails. The Mentry pathways stuff did not respond to my help cases.
Please give more ideas of how to reach students who don't seem to be engaged in this project. I feel I waited too long to push for evidence of progress from my student. I never did get any pictures or documents from her, even though it shows she met all her deadlines.
I had not heard from my student in 42 days, even after reaching out to the teacher.

Feedback regarding the quality of the student's final project as well as suggestions for improvement.
I received a "reflection" on the process, and provided extensive feedback in the Google document. I'm not sure whether this was the final project intended here. This student needs to work on the maturity of her writing style (which I told her directly in my feedback as well).
She did not send her final project
I believe the student learned quite a bit from this project. An additional opportunity is to make sure they build into their plan how they will continue to follow and revise the plan once they are out of high school.
I did not receive the student's reflection paper, picture/copy of the health career display, college research information or any of the other assignments so it is difficult to provide suggestions for improvement. Based on the messages received (less than 10 total for a 5 month project), I would recommend that she proof-read her work as many of the messages contained typos. In the future, I would recommend that she share her work in a timely fashion with a mentor for help and feedback.
Denise did not submit a project for review. We corresponded about specific units but not an overall project.
No final project or closing communication was shared.
I did not see the final project. There were times where I didn't receive a response from my student so I was not certain where she was in the process.
Final product not shared.
Final project was a reflection on the mentor relationship and how it helped the student. It is nice to hear back from the student in this way.
There was a distinct improvement in the quality of Hailey's emails after I pointed out that if her goal was truly to become a pediatric oncologist, she would need to step up her game significantly, starting now. The earlier gentle hints fell on deaf ears. :)
The student to stop participating in the project as far as I can tail. The teacher did not answer any of my emails. The Mentry pathways stuff did not respond to my help cases.
It's been 25 days since I've heard from my student. 3 requests for help have been handled well by the mentoring staff, but I still have yet to see any work my student has done.

Would you consider mentoring new students in the future?
0 - No
21 - Yes

Why or why not.
Believe there are areas that I can help the student consider as they work on their projects. The interactions are not overly time consuming but are very beneficial.
It is important to help students prepare for their futures! Whatever we can share with them to make them successful is a win for everyone.
Yes, I enjoy mentoring and helping students.
Felt I was able to help the student through the initial stages of the college search.
I really like providing support and helping bring a different perspective through my experiences - having gone through it and now being in industry for many years.
I rate 2 but only in this mentoring, previously have been fantastic and of course I will be considering mentoring new students in the future.
It is good to help each other. Guiding youth toward reaching their potential sometimes takes more than parent mentoring. It's a great way for me to "give back."
Yes, however I will likely avoid any future projects with this teacher.
I love the program, but I will likely avoid this teacher in the future.
The student was a rare example of a bad experience. The other four students I mentored this year have been fantastic. I would not lead one bad experience out of dozens stop me from participating in Mentored Pathways.
I think the student I was paired with didn't have a good idea of what was expected of her in regards to quality and quantity of research she needed to do for this project.

The most rewarding aspect of participating.
Interactions with student
Teaching the student new skills.
I hope that I gave her at least some help and pointers in exploring different careers in the future.
Getting to share ideas and assist with research questions.
Seeing changes in the student's thinking.
Hearing that I helped guide my student in thinking about different secondary education options. Finding an internship that she will be considering next year.
In this mentoring, none, in previous all was perfect.
Sharing in the student's success. Experiencing the ah ha moment for the student and times when they struggle and then figure something out.
Learning about my student's personal life and where she was coming from as a freshman in high school.

The most difficult aspect of participating.
Often periods where there is little or no communication so it is not clear what is going on with the student or project
Izaak communicated very infrequently which poses more of a challenge to the mentor to present ideas as you do lose concept of what is happening in the class the longer the student is silent.
Given my day job, the hardest part was taking the lead to drive the interaction. My other student made it easy by being engaged. With this student, it was difficult because it did not feel as if she had anything invested in it.
getting no response from student or teacher
Lack of clarity from the student on what the student needed from me at any given point in time.
It was difficult to not hear from my student frequently (less than 10 messages in 5 months). I did not know most of the time what she was working on. I also struggled with providing assistance and feedback since she did not share her work on the project with me. This was frustrating as I like to provide guidance and feedback on project work.
Allotting time in concert with the students schedule to answer questions and provide resources.
lack of communication from teacher and student
Not receiving a response.
In this case the lack of participation from the mentee and teacher side.
Not getting frequent responses from the student.
Lack of communication from the student and the teacher
She did not communicate on a regular basis, and I have no idea what her project or research work looks like.
