Things either the teacher or the Mentored Pathways Staff do to make a similar project more successful.
We were not successful in getting advice from surgeons for the student's career exploration. This was very disappointing. This was not the fault of the program leaders, but a point that should be addressed for future programs on career exploration. However, I am not sure I can offer any advice on how to improve that situation, doctors are so busy it is difficult to get one to offer career advice.
THis was a very intense project. It was very challenging to identify professional contacts for the students, especially in areas outside of our own profession. I reached out to personal friends who work in my student's exploration profession, but it was a "big ask" for them to respond to questions, and a balance of asking and gently reminding without straining a personal relationship.

Feedback regarding the quality of the student's final project as well as suggestions for improvement.
Mason is exceptionally bright and an excellent communicator. During this program, he was very self motivated and completed the assignments with no problems. His work was excellent.
My student did not upload her final project. Her emails indicated a high level of stress with standardized testing and workload.

Overall experience in the program.

Would you consider mentoring new students in the future?
1 - No
2 - Yes

Why or why not.
Yes, I would like to continue mentoring. The students are very bright and motivated to successfully complete assignments. My schedule is growing increasingly busy, as such I may not have time next fall for another student. I would not want to short change my student.
Unlikely to support this project again in the current structure. Other projects, yes.

The most rewarding aspect of participating.
The most rewarding aspect is the wonderful feedback from the students. They are always terrific.
My student worked really hard to understand her career and whether it was a good fit for her.

The most difficult aspect of participating.
We often experience unexpected delays in projects (not just this one). That can lead to frustration for the student and the mentor and the teacher too.
Reaching out to other professionals to ask for input for a student. I do not work in the profession and depended on good will of busy friends to respond to the career questions. It was cumbersome to be the indirect link between the student and professionals.
