This project went very smoothly for being a independent research project! Olivia really seemed to benefit from our work together, both from what the she wrote and from what Mrs. Turek has shared with me. Mrs. Turek did a great job in providing a loose structure for the project, while allowing Olivia and I to work together to develop what the goal/final project would be based on her interests.
Feedback regarding the quality of the student's final project as well as suggestions for improvement.
Olivia had a very strong final project. Our work together to create the criminal justice process flowchart (colored by section of investigation) and then linking those colors to actual investigations really demonstrated the knowledge she gained from working together. By creating the flowchart, she was challenged to understand the key sections of the investigation, what each step leads to and what types of professionals are involved in each step of the process (and what their roles are). She put a lot of time and effort into this project, both creating the project and then actually completing it. I was impressed by her willingness to learn and perform independent research. She also gained first hand knowledge of the criminal justice system from interviews with a detective and a judge which I believe helped her to more fully appreciate the process she was learning about.
Overall experience in the program.

Would you consider mentoring new students in the future?

1 - Yes
Why or why not.
Absolutely, it's a joy to work with students, challenging them to explore career interests or in this case an independent project designed to explore a career interest more in-depth.
The most rewarding aspect of participating.
Working with Olivia and Mrs. Turek! It was great to watch Olivia grow in the project and really stretch herself in the research and developing a project goal. I was really pleased with the final project that she created.
The most difficult aspect of participating.
For me, an independent research project was a challenge. I really like structure so working on a project without a lot of structure was a personal challenge for me.
