Things either the teacher or the Mentored Pathways Staff do to make a similar project more successful.
Teacher kept me informed of deadline changes and project updates.
Charlotte spent quite a bit of time getting Shelby engaged in the project. Obviously Charlotte was on top of her students as she noticed this and acted immediately along with letting me know what was happening. Great job Charlotte!!
Encourage students to upload their work earlier and more frequently. We can review in 'chunks.'
The project was simple to maneuver and participate in from week to week. Ms. Gray was very helpful providing additional feedback and instruction about the project and general condition of the classroom environment. I appreciated her input. The ITP staff is very easy to communicate with on program or technical systems. Thank you.

The teacher's messages were helpful in this project but were infrequent so it was sometimes hard to keep track of where the students were up to. We did always get a message when a deadline had changed though and that was great. ITP messages/calls were helpful - Kim is doing a great job and I really like the tone of her messages - understanding that we're all juggling multiple responsibilities, but still firmly nudging us to GET TO IT! ITP staff were also v helpful during the time I needed medical treatment. My mentoring contact was a bit up and down this semester due to the medical issues so I appreciate the patience on the part of ITP. Hoping things will be more steady next term.
I don't know if the student and teacher discuss what the mentor suggests or not, so wasn't sure if I was 'on track' with my comments and suggestions. More communication would be helpful.

Feedback regarding the quality of the student's final project as well as suggestions for improvement.
N/A. Would have enjoyed seeing the final PowerPoint presentation.
I did not see the final project. I know that my student was grateful for my comments on drafts, but I did not see the final edits. That would have been nice.
The final project Paige submitted was very fun to read. I loved seeing the results of all the work she had done and the gorgeous creatively way she put it all together. Although presentation visuals was an outline of the points Paige would make in the final presentation, it made me what more. Oh how I wish I could have been there to see and hear Paige speak!
Really good correspondence no issues the project was great.
Sam's final project was good - but it was a little difficult to tell exactly because I could see her slides, which were well put together but the students don't tend to put their notes into the PP presentation itself so I can't tell what they intend to say to accompany each slide. This would be something that would help in the future if it could be passed on to teachers.
I thought my student's final project was very well organized and don't have any improvement suggestions. I hope she did well on the oral presentation.

Would you consider mentoring new students in the future?
0 - No
8 - Yes

Why or why not.
Yes, I enjoyed helping the student to start thinking about beyond a teacher position and to research and think about obtaining an Administrative Credential to help her in the future.
It is rewarding to "watch" the young people develop their skills and become more mature. I enjoy being a part of that. Thank you for the opportunity.
My overall experience mentoring Paige provided great satisfaction and meaning on the days we connected, compared to the days we did not. Comparing the messaging, I don't know which felt better; sending a great piece of advice or receiving an inspiring response from Paige. Either way it is a fun and motivating way to work with students.
I really enjoy working with the gifted students - see next answer for more detail. Helping a struggling student is important - but working with a student who communicates well and also is interested in discussing wider issues is very rewarding and I feel I am making a difference in a different way from with a student who struggles. It's fun and a challenge to me to raise my own game to provide answers to these students.
It was a pleasure and an honor to work with Kayla. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and hope she did as well.

The most rewarding aspect of participating.
Reading the growth of the student from start to finish.
Building the relationship and trust with the student and, in turn, having them take my advice and grow from it.
The most rewarding aspect was discovering things Paige and I had in common.
Just supporting someone work towards goals.
This student was very bright and on the ball - it was a pleasure to work with her. It's always good to help students who are struggling, but often it's hard to make an impact as these students tend to struggle with regular/complete communications. Working with gifted students is just as important in my view, as they often get overlooked by teachers who are trying to keep up with all the students who need extra help. This is where I think the ITP program can almost be of the most benefit - as mentors can push students to widen their thinking, consider issues by wide and specific, challenge them to be the best they can be and to look into resources and networks that they are not yet aware of. Sam responded to all my suggestions and implemented them. She really reviewed her interview responses and thought deeply about the career of teaching along with which college would suit her best. We had some excellent discussions and I felt that I made a difference to this student. Her final message was a lovely reward for me - to hear how I had helped her develop.
The most rewarding aspect of telementoring is to be able to have impact on the student, knowing these students are the future for our country.

The most difficult aspect of participating.
Due to work schedule, there were a few times that I as unable to respond to student with immediate responses.
Waiting and encouraging the student to share the work that they have done. Also, I was ill and felt bad when I could not keep up with my correspondence.
The most difficult aspect was setting time aside on busiest weeks to do research.
When the communication was slow.
This term my challenge was keeping in regular contact - I did at least try to let my students know when I was having difficulty and although i didn't always manage two messages a week, I really felt that my messages were of a very high quality and a good help to my mentees, giving them a lot to think about. My messages are not always as frequent but they are usually longer and more detailed than some other mentors.
The most difficult aspect of telementoring is knowing if the suggestions are taken well, and the impact. Not being able to see someone's face and reactions was difficult for me.
