Would you consider mentoring new students in the future?

Why or why not.
I think it's important for students to have professional contacts while still in high school. I lucked out to have an exceptional student who was very professional in his interactions with me. I'm glad to be able to be part of that.

The most rewarding aspect of participating.
Lining up the live interview with Brad Knox, a post-doc researcher at MIT.
Getting to know this young man who has high aspirations and that he appreciated my help and input. I have no doubt I'll see him on the front page of some scientific publication in the future!

The most difficult aspect of participating.
My student disappeared for a while due to some medical issues (the teacher let me know he was out of school), and we never really got back on track after that. It had been going really well up to that time.
The system was a little cumbersome, and there were times when I found the prodding to post to the system more than a little annoying. As a professional myself, I felt I did not need to be micromanaged and I would have participated fully without the constant reminders if the time between postings was longer than a couple of days.
