Why or why not.
This was a fun opportunity this semester while staying at home on maternity leave. Next Fall, I'll be teaching full time English again and the time management to mentor also would be too difficult.

The most rewarding aspect of participating.
Seeing firsthand how you can make important connections globally using technology.

The most difficult aspect of participating.
Limited ability for helping student if they don't want to follow through. From a distance, my best option for supporting her with her project (writing a play and having it performed) was help with revising and editing the script. I saw one version of it, sent her a Powerpoint about Writing Process for help with revisions, and never saw another revision. Even with suggesting the student create a timeline and take the lead more, I never saw another revised script because she didn't "like" revising. It felt difficult for me to "enforce" something that she just didn't want to do. However, not being physically present, I wasn't much support for other aspects of her play...i.e. rehearsals (other than answering a few of her general rehearsal related questions.) So I'm not sure how much of an impact on her project I really had.
