Thank you for paying it forward and mentoring a student.
Your Responsibilities:
1. Communicate with your student a few times a week. The project schedule makes it clear what to focus on for each of the six months. And we'll provide plenty of tips, especially at the beginning.
2. Support your student to accomplish each task at a professional level. When the bar is set high and it's followed up with hear centered support, students can produce incredible quality.
3. Contact staff@mentoredpathways.org anytime you need help. If we aren't sleeping you'll get a lightning fast response.
4. Be transparent in sharing your mistakes and successes throughout your professional journey.
Description:
Mentored Pathways supports students to pursue their interests successfully, providing enough structure and mentor support to move forward without getting in the way. Each student is matched with a mentor to help them address three core goals, developing a portfolio of work, a career and education plan and a professional network. In addition students will leverage the YouScience (Science of You!) aptitude results to learn what they are naturally good at, dramatically expanding the opportunities available. Students will receive support for three certifications that are in high demand from employers (21st Century Skills, Career Planning and Financial Literacy). Finally, all of this work gets moved to LinkedIn, allowing the support to continue beyond the six month program. Students have the option of continuing with one on one mentoring support with a monthly fee after the six month program.
Benchmarks:
The benchmarks or evaluation of this program will occur through monthly checkpoints with the mentor, ensuring goals are being met for the project steps for that months as well as overall project goals. There will also be an evaluation at the end of the project with the mentor and student together identifying strengths and weaknesses of the work and any remaining gaps that need to be addressed for the student to be successful. The professional network, including the mentor will support the student to close those gaps. Students will complete:
1. Portfolio of Work, Career and Education Plan, Professional Network 2. YouScience Aptitude Exam and review and incorporate results in planning 3. Three certification pretests, addressing gaps, and final certification exam for 21st Century Skills, Career Planning, Financial Literacy 4. Move all documents and professional network communication to LinkedIn 5. Share plan to move forward with primary mentor and professional network
