Project Plan
Unique Requests of
Participating Mentors:

We are interested in working with mentors who can encourage and coach students with their writing.

Description:

Students will team with mentors to discuss their writing, receive feedback, and revise and edit their work. I have a group of students that don't really see themselves as writers and could use a mentor to connect with and encourage them in order to motivate them.

Benchmarks:

Students will revise and edit their work to correct for spelling, punctuation, and grammar mistakes. In particular, students will focus on complete sentences, capitalization and comma errors, and their spelling words.

Duration:

9

Grade Level:

7

Content Area:

Language Arts

Student Outcomes:

Students will email their mentors twice a week to discuss writing and how to develop into a good writer and share both rough drafts and revised drafts. Students will receive feedback on their writing from their mentor, particularly constructive suggestions on what to focus on for improvement.

Evaluation of
Student Outcomes:

Students will keep their written pieces and graph the results of the scores they earned on the corresponding rubrics. Students will measure their growth over time, set goals for themselves, and work with their mentor to achieve those growth results.

Teacher Role:

Teacher's Role: I will email the telementors with an objective for their correspondence each week. I will advise them on what direction to steer the mentees, as well as provide them with exemplar models of writing and rubrics.

Mentor Role:

Mentor's Role: Mentors should email their student twice a week, discussing their writing and providing feedback for improvement.
