The BCA requests mentors in the Bioscience fields of Biotechnology,Crime Scene Investigation/Forensics and Biomedical Studies. The BCA students are attending Fort Collins High School and will greatly benefit from opportunities to connect and collaborate with professionals in their chosen fields. You can play a major role in helping these young people pursue their interests successfully,create career and education plans that meet an industry and post secondary standard, create and contribute to a professional network and leave high school well connected,informed,and engaged!
Description:
Bioscience Career Academy (BCA)students will identify a career choice, develop a career and education portfolio and establish a professional network to guide and further pursuit of a career in a Biosciences in the field of Biotechnology, Crime Scene Investigation/Forensics, or Biomedical studies.
Benchmarks:
The student will identify career options to research in his/her field of concentration. The student will identify a career goal and design a realistic education and career action plan to reach the identified goal. The student will plan to optimally position him/herself for acceptance into the post-secondary educational opportunity of his/her choice. The student will develop and maintain a professional network to guide, advise and hold him/her responsible and accountable to successfully execute the education and career plans.

Requirement: student- mentor contact at least 2 times per week.
Evaluation of
Student Outcomes:
The student will use the project tracking system to evaluate his/her attainment of project outcomes. The student will complete an evaluation form about the telementoring project. The student and the mentor will evaluate their telementoring experience and provide recommendations for improving the project.
Teacher Role:
The teacher will act as the facilitator for the project and will monitor and supervise the telementoring relationship. Requirement: teacher-mentor contact at least 1 time per week.
Mentor Role:
Mentors are asked to: 1. maintain communication 2 times a week with the student 2. act as advisor and provide encouragement and feedback,help develop career awareness and collaborate with the student on the project.
