These students are part of a gifted education program in Bossier Parish Louisiana. Most of the students do not have opportunities to connect with professionals in the career fields that interest them. Your participation as a mentor can play a major role in helping these young people successfully navigate the path to a rewarding college experience and a satisfying career.

Description:

The student will develop, with the assistance of a telementor, a college and career portfolio that will serve as a road map to help the student reach his college and career goals.

Benchmarks:

The student will identify colleges and careers to research; demonstrate ability to locate, identify, and interpret information; generate choices and make college and career decisions based upon interests, abilities, and values; and create a realistic college and career action plan to reach his desired goals. The student will summarize the information gathered from the mentoring process in a PowerPoint presentation that will be presented to an appropriate audience at the end of the project.
