Participating Mentors:

Students will be preparing projects to be competitive in our District and State competition. They will be taking the information and writing up a professional plan. In addition, they will be preparing a PowerPoint presentation to present to the judges. Any feedback to help students understand the process is beneficial.

Description:

The 2013 topic for each career category is the development of a promotional campaign based on the results of the research conducted. Participants will choose an existing business and conduct a SWOT analysis and additional research on its product/services in an attempt to provide new and exciting ways to restructure, change and update that business's website to create a wider audience and/or generate more customers.

Benchmarks:

*select an actual local business operation or organization *conduct a SWOT analysis of the business's products/services and of its website *design a research study to identify opportunities to strengthen a businss's website *conduct market research * analyze the results of the research study *Based on the results of the research, develop a cost analysis of changing the website *Develop a promotional campaign designed to reintroduce the business's website into the marketplace *Present the research findings and proposed promotional campaign in a role-play situation to the business's owner/manager.

Evaluation of
Student Outcomes:

Each section will be submitted by the due date and students will be evaluated on each section.

Teacher Role:

Teacher will teach each section and show examples, and grade each section upon completion.

Mentor Role:

Give students effective feedback, looking at content, sentence structure, grammar, etc.
