Participating Mentors:

I would like to have mentors appreciate creative writing, especially poetry. Also mentors that are patient and understanding of students with a wide range of personalities, writing abilities, and technology knowledge.

Description:

Students will maintain a PPT portfolio of all creative writings associated with the project. With the help of a mentor, the student will learn a new poetry type by reading a selection of poetry, create their own poetry in response, and present it in a PPT slide.

Benchmarks:

English/Creative Writing: Students write a composition using prewriting, writing a first draft, revising, proofreading, editing, and publishing. Also create a presentation portfolio using MS PowerPoint.

Student Outcomes:

Students will maintain copies of all correspondence with mentor. Students will maintain a portfolio of all creative writings associated with the project using MS PowerPoint. The teacher and mentor will evaluate each draft of creative writings.

Evaluation of
Student Outcomes:

At the end of the project, students will submit their PPT Portfolio. Students will be encouraged to examine the ways in which they were able to establish personal goals and meet them. Teacher will give students a final grade on their samples of writing and for their presenation portfolio.

Teacher Role:

To guide student creative writing. To correspond with mentors on a weekly basis, making them aware of any changes that we need to make. To serve as facilitator for project progress and monitor the quality of student work.

Mentor Role:

To aid students in establishing and meeting project goals, including meeting deadlines. To aid students in the writing process. To assist students in following teacher's rubric.
