We need mentors who are able to assist students in understanding Shakespeare and Elizabethan sonnets by helping them translate sonnets using their own words. We would like mentors who have interests and appreciation for Shakespeare and his literary contemporaries. Also be able to maintain a positive and proactive communication with students of diversity and varying academic knowledge and appreciation of Shakespeare. Students will be translating 3 Elizabethan sonnets and connecting them to modern day song lyrics and create a PowerPoint presentation. Two sonnets are from Shakespeare and the last one will be non-Shakespeare sonnet researched and chosen by the student.

Description:

This project is an exploration of Shakespeare's sonnets for a 10th grade Language Arts class. They will translate three sonnets and provide a modern-day interpretation using song lyrics.
